Music Review - Jism

Chitra Parayath

MM Kreem(Marakatha Mani Keeravani), one of the most underrated of Indian Composers, delivers a winner here. After the success of Sur, Kreem is once again in the news with the music of Jism, winning praise from critics and fans alike.

Portraying a landscape of longing and erotic yearning (what this Pooja Bhatt production, Bipasha Basu film claims to be about), the music of Jism is smooth and melodic. Lyrics by Neelesh Mishra and Sayeed Quadri are soulful, poignant and predictable yet appealing.

Shreya Goshal sets the mood with her seductive rendering of the steamily shot number, Jaadu hai Nasha hai, the song is presented again as a duet with Shaan later in the album. MM Kreem and a refreshingly subdued KK sing Awaarapan Banjarapan. Shreya steams it up again with another sensual number Chalo Tumko lekar Chale. The two ghazals 'Mere Khwabon Ka' and 'Shikayat Hai' by Udit Narayan and Roop Kumar Rathod are pleasing to the ears, this reviewer enjoyed Rathod’s easy singing to Udit's somewhat labored warbling.

MM Kreem demonstrates his versatility as a composer/singer. His earlier Hindi hits were from Criminal( Tu mile Dil Khile), Zakhm and Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin before the runaway success of Sur.
