The program commences at 12 noon with a dialogue between Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji (of Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh, India) and Andrew Cohen on “Spiritually Enlightened Activism: Changing the World from the Inside Out” and continues with a gourmet vegetarian meal, an open house featuring special multimedia presentations, and an outdoor concert highlighting the creative edge of jazz.

Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji , who will be in the United States as part of a global tour, will be a special guest at the event. He is the founder of the Indian Heritage Research Foundation (IHRF), an international nonprofit organization that supports schools, women’s vocational training, medical clinics, and orphanages, as well as the president of the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, one of India's largest spiritual institutions. He is also a recipient of the Mahatma Gandhi Humanitarian Award.

Our celebration marks the anniversary of a milestone in the development of Andrew Cohen’s philosophy of Evolutionary Enlightenment. Nine years ago—on July 30, 2001—a group of his students came together in a shared recognition that the next step for contemporary spirituality has to be a collective one. For enlightened insights and values to inspire the cultural change our world needs, they have to be shared by many people at once. This year we’re inviting all of our neighbors and regional spiritual communities, Indian and non-Indian, to join us in the spirit of creating the culture of higher values that we all sense is possible. It will be the first of what we hope will be many such gatherings in the coming years.
