Nirmala Garimella 03/30/2010 As a tireless artist herself, Durga Krishnan mission to bring artists of talent together for a good cause in the performing arts has earned her respect among the community in the Boston area. Her two latest projects involve fundraisers for Chinmaya Mission on April 11th and MITHAS on May 16th both of which will be presented at the beautifully constructed auditorium that has attracted many private and public performances . The first of the two will take place On Sunday April 11th, when Neena Gulati, dancer, teacher, and something of an institution in the New England area will be presenting along with the Triveni Ensemble a dance recital called ‘ Faces of the Divineâ€. Neena Gulati is the director of the Triveni School of Dance in Brookline, Massachusetts, which she founded over twenty years ago and has performed extensively for charities. She donates her time and talent to many philanthropic organizations in the area. The Chinmaya fundraiser came about when she visited the temple and was wowed away with the beauty of the place which prompted her to offer to raise money for the mission through a dance performance. Aptly the dance that will be presented is called ‘Faces of the Divine’. According to Durga Krishnan, local area teachers in both Hindustani and Carnatic music will perform together with amazing segments of both styles of music. Senior students of some of these teachers who have already been practicing regularly will also have a half hour segment on that day with both fusion and classical music.
