Frustrated with getting NO..NO from the costume dealers to get the desired costume, they looked towards India to get the costume. Two days left for the BOOGIE WOOGIE CONTEST, and there was no knock from the FedEx. Wishing with finger crossed and keeping the ears to the door for the FedEx knock, finally had a sigh of relief when late afternoon on January, 29, a day before the competition on January 30, 2010, FedEx announced the arrival of the costume which made Sumaali Chheda the winner of the Boogie Woogie senior category contest after rhythmically swinging in her yellow dress to the tune of HOTHO PE LEKE BAAT.

Isn’t it a coincidence to hear almost a similar story from the junior category?

Five days before the BOOGIE WOOGIE contest in Connecticut, persuaded by her dance teacher, desperately started looking for the costumes from costume stores. NOT GETTING WHAT THEY WANTED, it took 3 days to stitch at home the costume befitting the song SHARARA...SHARARA. The SHARARA girl Anishaa Mukherjee captivated the applauded audience with her enchanting movements to win the junior category to compete in the national finals in Chicago.

Connecticut is the first of the series of three competition sites. It was a tremendous success with participation of 21 talented youth with high caliber of performance. It was a fantastic show comprising of competitive and non competitive participants. The high light of the show was THE DANCING ON SKATES sensation Lakshmi Mansa who danced through the hearts of the audience with her spellbound performance on A.R.Rehman’s MAA TUJHE SLAAM... The top three winners in each category were:

Seniors - Somalee Cheddha (winner), Namrata Gannu and Amulaya Narayanan

Juniors - Anishaa Mukharjee (winner), Neha Garugu and Mansi Aghera
