IAGB Celebrates Republic Day 2010

The India Association of Greater Boston celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of India’s Republic Day at the Burlington High School in Burlington, MA on Jan 23, 2010. Congressman John Tierney was the chief guest.
Mohan Dali, the President of IAGB welcomed the audience. He said the he would like to expand the activities of IAGB and said he would welcome suggestions from anyone.
Shuchita Rao sang the Indian National Anthem while Kumkum Dilwali presented the American National Anthem. The MCees for the event were Saurabh Saksena and Kavyashree Mallanna who did a phenomenal job as hosts. They brought their knowledge of Indian culture and history along with singing talents to make the show interesting.
The event opened with Hiranyagarbhasuktam coordinated by Bijoy Misra, Preeti Nagar and Pradeep Shukla. Then came Medley of Gujarati folk songs. “Swatantrata ka Jashna†had tiny tots dancing to the choreography of Sheetal Aware. Jagannath Vandana by Jayashree Mahapatra's group made for a nice Odissi style presentation which was followed by Divya Lalwani's choreography "Little kids do the twist". Nanhe Munne Bachhe: Bharat Ki Shaan was choreographed by Renuka Tirunahari and Samir Asthana.
Puppet dance, choreographed by Sushma Yadupathi, Mast Kaliyaan choreographed by Monisha Prakash, A Fearless Spirit to inspire all nations, choreographed by Jayashree Mohapatra . Jigisha Pandih . Kruti Thakkar brought a different color to the program.
The evergreen Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma sung by M.S Subbalakshmi was presented by the students of Ranjani Saigal in classical style. Firebird Fashion Show coordinated by Sheetal Aware was cute. This was followed by the masti bari Boston Bhangra presentation.
Leherein by Neela Jangi , Sunita Malhotra , Teja Nadkarni , Netra Rajinikanth was hit as usual. This was followed by a class act by newcomer Sheetal Dwaraka who presentation a beautiful fusion number , Shakti - The Ultimate Power.
Vasanth Pallavi, again choreographed by Jayashree Mahapatra, was followed by Rajasthani folk dance choreographed by Surabhi Agnihotri.Taal - Bharatnatyam Fusion choreographed by the participants was followed by Banjara Dhamaka Bollywood Style by Samidha Sane. Kadanakuthukalam Tillana was brilliantly presented by the students of Sumitra Anand. It was amazing to see the talent of tiny tots.
Sunita Malhotra and her friends presented Mera Laung Gavacha followed by a Rajasthani Folk dance choreographed by Siddhi Salvi. Tillana by students of Sridevi Thirumalai, Yashodha Dole's choreography presented by the Medway group, Spark and Jhalak , presentaion by the Vividha School of Dance, Tham Thaka Thaiyya Thaka and a presentation by the Lexington Bhangara brought the event to a close. A great event in the usual IAGB style.
