09/16/2009 Members of the Telugu Association of Greater Boston (TAGB) met at Hancock United Church of Christ in Lexington, MA on Monday, September 7th to express their deep condolences to our beloved late Chief Minister, Dr. Y.Rajasekhar Reddy. The meeting started with observing two minutes’ silence as Sradhanjali to Dr.YSR. Priest Sri Tejasvi Putcha chanted Santhi vachanalu from Hindu ancient scriptures, in a traditional way. Dr.Ammani Dasari, founder of TAGB, spoke that Dr. YSR was very instrumental to keep Andhra Pradesh together as one state, without yielding to demands to split the state in two. She spoke about his dedicated work for the uplift of villages and in particular the village women and that it was so shocking that he passed away on his way to see one of those places. She said, leaders like him should live longer like 112 years, but it is unfortunate that we lost him at an early age. Sri Mohan Nannapaneni, Secretary of TANA, who spoke on the occasion said that Dr. YSR was a great leader who worked hard for farmers and their families, he understood their problems very well, as he himself hailed from a farming community in Rayalaseema. He praised his projects like Jala Yagnam, ArogyaSri, Rajeev Gruha Niramana Padhakam, and Pension for old people, Indirama Vikasa Pathakam etc. He reiterated their importance and described how those projects benefited to the village, farming and poor communities. He expressed his deepest condolences and Srandhanjali with emotions. At the outset, Dr.Murthy Kanneganti, Prakash Reddy and Taranath expressed their deep condolences at the loss of a great Leader and that his work is recognized by one and all, both in India and outside. Dr.Surya Jayanthi, President, TAGB praised Dr. YSR as Padhala Pennidhi and Atunatha Rajakeeya Chaturatha, great Parliamentarian. He is one of the greatest leaders of our State during the last two decades. It is great that all political parties, all religions, all races have expressed their condolences.
