Recipes - Cool Off With Lassi

Having just returned from India, and  after consuming unlimited amount of lassis (read chilling out) and mocktails (drinks containing no alchohol),  I urge you to put V8 and Tropicana aside and try some of these delicious combinations.

Strawberry Lassi
1 lb fresh strawberry, trimmed and halved (3 1/2 cups)
1/2 cup sugar
1 pinch salt
2 cups plain yogurt
1 cup ice cubes
Puree strawberries with sugar, and a pinch of salt in a blend until smooth. Add yogurt and ice, then puree until smooth again.

Banana Lassi Recipe
1 cup  ice cube, crushed well
2 cups  plain yoghurt
2 very ripe banana, peeled and roughly chopped
1-2 teaspoon honey (optional
Blend all of the above ingredients together in a blender. Served chilled and garnish with a slice of banana.


Mango Lassi Recipe - an all time favorite
1 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup mango pulp or pieces of mango(fresh or canned)
1 cup crushed ice
3 table spoons sugar
Blend all of the above. Add a little water if the consistency is too thick. Keep refrigerated. Serve chilled. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

Lassi facts:
Lassi is also of great importance in diet. It contains fat, protein, lactose, ash, calcium, phosphorus. So it has a great nutritional value. Regular consumption of lassi reduces the chances of your hair going white before time.
