India Association Of Greater Boston Hosts India Day 2009

Press Release
08/05/2009

India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) announces India Day 2009, which will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston. Admission to this four-hour long family event will be free.

India Day 2009 is a celebration of the 62nd anniversary of India’s Independence from British rule on August 15, 1947. IAGB holds this annual event in collaboration with its affiliate Saheli, a support group for South Asian women.

“Hundreds of performers, including musicians, singers and dancers, will converge upon the Hatch Shell to present a colorful extravaganza of Indian classical and Indian American fusion items to delight the senses,” says Rita Shah, president, IAGB. “Our performers have been diligently practicing their items and we look forward to enjoying the fruits of their labors.”

Food will be available for purchase and several other vendors will present an array of products, including arts and crafts, as well as services.

India Day 2009 is also a great opportunity for businesses to present themselves to a significant population of South Asian Americans. The event drew an audience of 18,000 in 2008. Space for vendor tables is still available for rent.

“We are delighted that our event also provides a forum for business people to showcase their products and services,” says Mohan Dali, vice president, IAGB. “The prospect of reaching a large, mostly South Asian audience is generating more interest this year, as businesses strive to get more value for their money in the current economic climate.”

If you would like to rent a table and/or booth, please contact tables@iagb. org.

If you would like to advertise in the India Day 2009 program book, please contact iagb@iagb.org.
