NEHTI (New England Hindu Temple) Committee for Youth, Cultural and Educational Programs (YCEP)
invites Hindustani Music Teachers and Students
to participate in the
Hindustani Music Day Celebration
to be held on Sunday, 22 March 2009
between 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
at
Sri Lakshmi Temple
117 Waverly St, Ashland, MA 01721
This day-long event will be open to teachers and students of Hindustani classical music. Participants can present vocal or instrumental Hindustani Music in solo or group performance. The goal is to help and encourage youth to learn Hindustani Music.
Each item (solo or group) can be up to a maximum of 10 minutes in length. Groups can have up to four performers.
NEHTI is also offering one Scholarship of $1,000 to the Best Hindustani Vocal /Instrumental Student (as judged by an independent panel) from participating 12th graders entering college in the Fall of 2009. This competition -- for students who are not professional musicians or working/studying towards becoming professional musicians -- will be part of the Hindustani Music Day event.
