Indian Consul General Prabhu Dayal of the Indian Consulate in N.Y. met with the Mayor of Quincy, Mayor Thomas P. Koch on Friday Feb. 6th, in the Mayor's office at City Hall . Mayor Koch and Consul General Dayal spoke about the role of the indian community in Quincy in particular and Massachussetts in general. Consul General Dayal promised Mayor Koch full support of his office in helping indian american families and business'es in Quincy prosper. Mayor Koch expressed his sympathy for the families of the Mumbai attacks.The meeting ended with Mayor Koch presenting Consul General Dayal with a few token gift items as momento's of historic Quincy.
While in Quincy Consul General Dayal was taken on a tour of the city by Kumu Gupta. They stopped by some of the historic sites of the city like the home of the 2nd US President John Adams (the Adams Mansion) which is called the Summer White House and the Church of Presidents where the Adams family crypts are found. Being a golfer, the Consul General enjoyed his visit to the Granite Links Golf course in West Quincy, which was voted by Golf Digest as “Top Ten Best New Upscale Golf Course in the US†and one of fifty “Best 19th Holes in Americaâ€.
This is only Consul General Prabhu Dayal's second visit to Boston area since he took office in September last year. He was in town for a special luncheon Friday morning at Nixon Peabody in Boston, where he spoke with invited guests from government and private sector about promoting economic, cultural and social ties between Massachussetts and India.
