TAGB celebrated Deepavali Velugulu with Greater Boston Telugu Community at Littleton High school on Saturday, November 08. It turned out to be a Spectacular evening bringing the spirit of Deepavali with over 1000 people who witnessed an excellent cultural program presented by more than 200 local talent performers.
Sri Subramanyam Karedla and Sri Ravi Chilakamarri acted as Masters of Ceremony and did a wonderful job with their chaste Telugu, timely comments, humor and wit. The stage management was crisp and the entire show was packed with extraordinary performances reflecting the festival, Telugu culture, literature, music. Each item turned out to be a sparkling festive light in the colorful Deepavali function as the audience were mesmerized and enthralled by the high quality local talent show.
The program was loaded with a right blend and assortment of items. It had a mix of both classical, semi-classical and fun stuff. Pushpanjali prayer dance and other Kuchipudi and Bharatha Natyam classical dances. The Ashtalakshmi Deepavali special dance, the filmy song based high energy level scintillating dance medleys, presentation of Telugu musicians, poets, great sons of Telugu soil, Poem recitations by children, ‘Tummedalunnayi-Emera’ folk dance, Veena recital, melodious old songs sung to karaoke tracks. The audience cheered and thunderous applause went on and on. The colorful costumes, background multi-colored lights used in various events, bright smiles of the children, animated cracker show created festive atmosphere. Trophies are presented to the winners of the Telugu Poems competition conducted earlier on Andhra Pradesh Formation Day and to the cultural program participants.
President Surya Jayanthi welcomed the attendees, talked about the previous events conducted and events planned for future and asked the community to come forward and take part in building the stronger and healthier organization. He then introduced the Executive Committee, Board of Trustees and the entire Committee. Mounika Donepudi of TYAGB presented the achievements of the youth group. Delicious snacks were served by NESSP and Vindu Bhojanam was provided by Kebab Restaurant. Several stalls like JET New England stall of Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, New England Shirdi Sai Parivar etc. provided information about their activities to the audience.
Treasurer Koteswasra Rao Kandukuri thanked partial event sponsors Murthy & Padma Parakala, Dr. Anantha and Siva Dogiparthi, Dr. Radika and Praveen Goli, Dr. Nagagopal Venna and Smt. Usharani, Sri Manohar & Dr. Bhavani Sriramineni, Boston Telugu Cinemas. He also thanked the Choreographers, Performers, Parents, attendees, Committee members and all the Volunteers who contributed in organizing the event.
The program ended with playing Indian and American National anthems by Trumpet and Saxophone by Saketh and Virinchi. This best organized quality cultural event will remain in memory and cherished by Boston Telugus for a long, long time.
