(This article is sponsored by Sounds Of India) The formidable team of Vishal-Shekhar and Javed Akhter team up to bring us a cute creation in Bhoothnath. This is yet another Big B offering from Ravi Chopra after Bhagban and Babul but does not quite fall in that same league even though Big B’s voice does feature in the track. The opening number is a very happening number called ‘Mere Buddy’ featuring the kid singer Arman Mallik and Amitabh Bacchan serving as an MCEE of sorts. The upbeat rollicking hip hop number has some great arrangements and could hit the spot with Gen-X listeners. It promises to be a great kid entertaininer.
Juhi Chawla a singer? Yes and an interesting one that as is evidenced by the sound track ‘Chalo Janne do’. This slow paced number makes excellent use of the voices of Juhi and Big B. Lyrics by Javed Akhtar’s aim at creating a cute, touching and sentimental track. The subtle piano notes that are finely tuned with mellowed violin works makes it a nice number. Will we hear more of Juhi after this?
Back to a peppy playful number in “Banku Bhaiyaâ€, in the throaty voice of Sukhwinder Singh. It’s comical, quizzical and to some extent traditional in its animated perky musical flow that epitomizes “bhoot†stylized fun-loving escapades. There is a lot of techno-wizardry in Vishal-Shekhar’s music and along with Javed Akhtar’s lovable but roguish wordings makes this a fun piece.
Graduating from one child singer lending his vocals to the opening number, Bhoothnath sees as many as four kids - Koushtuv Ghosh, Aparna Bhagwat, Sharavan Suresh, Sneha Suresh - coming together to get into a 'boy-zone'! It’s time for trendy kid special “turf-war†as loud percussive elements buzz with boisterously pitched vocals of child singers.
Salim-Sulaiman, the specialized whiz kids of background score brings out a dark and daunting intimidating appeal of psychological thriller in fine package of remarkably arranged and composed instrumental works in “Bhootnath-themeâ€. The cloudburst thunders, soft tingling impacts, aggressive drumming, enthused percussions matched with howling chorals evokes out a typical bloodcurdling thriller impact. The next number Samay Ka Pahiya is rather average. But the number is notable for the vocal rendition by the impressive sounding Hariharan with some wonderful snippets by Big B. Perhaps a more situational number
Perhaps not a huge hit but worth a listen.
