Rahul Banerjee 04/17/2008
Brown Badmaash, Brown University’s only nationally competitive South Asian dance troupe, is hosting its annual performance show on April 27th. Look forward to an energetic and festive night of dance ranging from bhangra to classical South Indian, from raas to hiphop, and much more! Several other acclaimed dance groups on campus, as well as Brown’s newly founded South Asian a cappella group, will be making guest appearances throughout the event as well.
BROWN BADMAASH ANNUAL SHOW:
“Turn it up!â€
When: April 27, 2008, at 5:00 PM Where: Salomon Hall, Brown University, Providence, RI Tickets: $5 at the door (this show WILL sell out!)
Email rahul@brown.edu for more information on tickets and directions to the show.
Brown Badmaash was founded three years ago by a dozen dedicated Brown students and has since tripled in size and successfully participated in competitions all over the Northeast, most recently ranking 2nd at the Desi Dance Project in Syracuse, New York. We focus on breaking down the boundaries between South Asian and western dance, hence our rather unorthodox name which (in our opinion) sums us up pretty well.
Bhangra, hiphop, garba/raas, lyrical, South Asian classical, salsa, Bollywood - you name the dance style, and we have someone working on tying it into our next performance. We bring South Asian fusion to a whole new level – check out our website (http://students.brown.edu/brownbadmaash/) and come on the 27th to find out why!
