In August 2007, Dr. John Hagelin spoke about the development of human creativity through the direct experience of Nature's infinite creativity within our own transcendental consciousness.

Dr. Hagelin explained that the recent discovery of the Unified Field (or E8 x E8 heterotic superstring field as it is known in the language of Unified Quantum Field Theory), represents the fulfillment of Einstein's lifelong dream of a single unified source of the diversified laws of nature. Unified Field theory is the crowning achievement of fifty years of advanced research in quantum gravity theory.

Dr. Hagelin said that the Unified Field theory locates a single, universal, unified field of Nature's intelligence at the basis of all forms and phenomena of the universe. The Unified Field is the unified fountainhead of all the diverse streams of Natural Law governing the universe at every level.

"This is not a philosophical discovery," Dr. Hagelin said. "It is a precise mathematical discovery of the foremost magnitude. This 'super-formula' as it is called, or Lagrangian, expresses this unified reality at the basis of Nature's functioning. All the atoms and molecules, macroscopic objects, stars and galaxies, everything in the universe emerges from the self-interacting dynamics of the Unified Field. Creativity is defined in terms of that which can create, and there's nothing as creative as the Unified Field which gives rise to the entire universe, and not just ours."

"Now, the Vedic Science of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and the technologies that directly engage the Unified Field, these developmental technologies of consciousness, such as the Transcendental Meditation^® technique, turn human awareness within to experience and explore deeper levels of mind, deeper levels of human intelligence, culminating in the direct experience of the Unified Field, this field of Nature's infinite creativity," Dr. Hagelin said.

"By enlivening this field of creativity in the awareness, creativity grows in human awareness. This is the more profound way of understanding the growth of creativity in the individual mind and awareness, not just in terms of the coherent brain [functioning], which is really an important side-effect or epiphenomenon of the more fundamental phenomenon of direct experience of [pure transcendental] consciousness at the basis of mind.

"Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques, including Yogic Flying, are techniques to directly experience and tap the creativity of Nature, to directly experience and enliven the Unified Field in individual awareness," Dr. Hagelin said.

He said that we can look at the galaxies, stars, and their distribution throughout the heavens and confirm that, indeed, all this came from the Unified Field. He presented a photograph of the distribution of galaxies throughout the heavens where every single tiny orange prick on the chart represented a cluster of galaxies.

"A galaxy like our Milky Way has about 400 billion suns," Dr. Hagelin said. "In this picture we are looking across the radius of the universe and every tiny dot in the chart is a cluster of galaxies. What you see, when you model exactly this shape, is a scale-invariant distribution. This means it is just a macroscopic blow-up of the microscopic structure of the vacuum fluctuations of the Unified Field—which confirms that all of this came from that.... And this field, at the basis of mind and matter, is a field of pure creativity, because it's the origin of the entire universe.... All of this simply came from that, establishing that the Unified Field is a field of infinite creativity."

Dr. Hagelin presented a number of quotations from the Vedic Literature that express the nature of the Unified Field.

Anoraniyan and Mahato-mahiyan—"That which is smaller than the smallest, is also bigger than the biggest."

"The smaller than the smallest—this is the fluctuations of the Unified Field at the super-unified scale, the level of the Superstring. And what is bigger than the biggest in our universe? The large scale structure of galaxies across the distant heavens," Dr. Hagelin explained. "And we see that they are the same. The large scale structure of galaxies is nothing but the submicroscopic structure of the Unified Field. That is what establishes the Unified Field as the source of the universe, and the field of infinite creativity.

Tad dure tadvantike—"That which is far away is also within." (Isha Upanishad 5)

"That which is far away, the Unified Field as the distant structure of galaxies across the wide heavens, is also found within as the origin of human consciousness, the field of pure creativity at the basis of the mind.

Dure drisham grihapatim atharyum—"At a far distance is seen the indweller of the house reverberating." (Rik Veda 7.1.1)

"That means the reverberations of Atma, the fluctuations of our own inner consciousness, the Self, are seen at a far, far distance. That is, the whole macroscopic universe is a macroscopic mosaic, a big cosmic blow-up of our innermost Self."

Purnam adah purnam idam purnat purnam udachyate, purnasya purnam adaya purnam evavashishyate —"From fullness, fullness emerges, and taking out fullness from fullness, fullness yet remains." (Brihadaranyak Upanishad, 5.1.1)

"The fullness of the universe with its infinity of galaxies emerges from the fullness of utter emptiness, the absolute, transcendental, unmanifest Unified Field. Yet, taking the universe out of the Unified Field, the Unified Field eternally remains.

"It is this creativity that drives the universe," said Dr. Hagelin.
