Lokvani Talks To Tahir Hamid Choudary

Tahir Hamid Chaudhry is the Presidend & CEO of NeuroDyne Medical, Corp. www.neumed.com and a CEO of myVillage, Inc. He is also a Director of OPEN(Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs) and is one of the founding members. He was also the previous President of Islamic Center of Boston www.icbwayland.org and current President of Pakistani Association of Boston www.pagb.org. Born in Lahore, he immigrated to Oxford UK in 1989, and traveled extensively in Europe. He now lives in Lexington, MA

 

Lokvani met him during the recent Eid celebrations at Bedford and talked to him about the various activities.

 

You have started 2 companies of your own. Give us a background of these companies?

NeuroDyne is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and manufactures a number of Electronic Medical devices used by healthcare providers for evaluation and treatment of Neuromuscular and Neurological Disorders. MyVillage, Inc. also in Cambridge provides communication, event organization and payment processing tools that are on line and state-of-the-art. These tools are used by individuals and by for-profit and non-profit organizations world wide. 

 

You have also been actively involved in the community. Tell us about PAGB and some its programs?

The Pakistan Association of Greater Boston (PAGB) is a non-political, non-sectarian, cultural and educational organization to promote. We serve the New England Pakistani community by inviting scholars, poets, artists, and dignitaries from Pakistan to share their knowledge, arts, and experience. Some of our recent events have been Dinner with the new Pakistani Ambassador, Pakistan Independence Day, PAGB Members Dinner and Musical Evening, Chand Raat.  Typically we have A Movie Day, a Picnic, Yearly Independence Day, Eid Dinner, Dinner with Pakistani Civil Service Executives at Kennedy School of Government, Dinner with the new Pakistani Ambassador, Pakistan Independence Day, PAGB Members Dinner and Musical Evening. We publish a newsletter, Nida E Waqt.

 

Does the PAGB have programs for the younger generation of Pakistani Americans?
Yes, we do have youth group, but not very active at this time, we are thinking of planning some events for them.


Do you partner with other local groups?
Yes, various clergy associations and TIE and numerous business groups and individuals.
 
What are the activities of the Islamic center?

 Holding Sunday school, Religious Lectures and Gatherings, Interfaith Meetings / Events, Book Club, Eid Prayers, etc. Our current President is Dris Djermoun

 

You are one of the founding members of OPEN? Tell us more about the organization.

The Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs of North America is a voluntary not-for-profit association dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship within the Pakistani community. The organization was formed in 1998 by a group of Pakistani-American entrepreneurs and corporate executives and registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the year 2000. It is a forum that provides networking opportunities and enhanced business opportunities for entrepreneurs and professionals who work in high tech, finance and biotech fields in North America. OPEN meetings and events are open to the public. OPEN has chapters in New England, Silicon Valley and New York. OPEN Chapters have boards comprising the most successful Pakistanis in the areas of finance, technology, telecommunications, biotech and consulting in North America. As the CEO of two companies you are also so actively involved in the community?
 

 What is the secret of your success? 
  I simply care for the community and believe in the notion that each one of us should do our part in doing as much good as we can. We are fortunate to live in a society where not only cultural and religious diversity is tolerated it is cherished and encouraged. I am just trying my best to keep my side of the bargain and contributing as much as I can to ensure that we participate fully in the American society and at the same time value and enjoy our cultural inheritance.
