Press Release 05/30/2007
GURJAR is celebrating its 30th anniversary. What started as a community meeting in basements is a full-fledged organization today with 400 families as members. GURJAR has pioneered events like Navratri, Diwali Dinners - Picnics - Achievement/Merit awards - Gujrati Dramas very successfully. We, the Gurjar executive committee want to thank all our sponsors for their generous donations. Support like this helps us maintain the quality programs that have become the norm for all Gurjar events.
GURJAR has completed 30 years thanks to the hard work of over 300 volunteers. Now with changing times we want our youth to get involved in planning and executing new programs. We continue to look for volunteers so if you like to work with the community, please join the committee.
To celebrate our success we are having an all day event at the Billerica High School - 35 River Street, Billerica MA on Saturday June 2 , at 3 PM. There will be live performances by children of all ages. Watch them dance to Popular Bollywood tunes and folk music.
There is a MELA (Fair) where we will have vendors selling Chanya-Choli - Sarees - Ethnic Jewelry - Kurtis and other gift items. There will also be vendors selling mouth watering delicacies. Children will be entertained by a clown/ magician, enjoy face painting and henna tattoo. Finally end your day with Dandiya Dhamal by DJ Ravi - all at one location. The day program is free - There is a $5:00 fee for Dandiya. So join the fun with your family.
