Shekhar Sen is a name today who has proved himself as a talented singer, music composer, lyricist and actor. Born and brought up in a Bengali family of Raipur M.P. learnt music from his parents Dr. Arun Kumar Sen & Dr. Aneeta Sen who are renowned musicologists and classical singers of Gwalior Gharana. Shekhar established himself as a singer with a different style by singing the compositions of   medieval poets like Raskhan, Raheem, Lalitkishori, Bhooshan Bihari & many more. To his credit, he has done more than 1000 shows all over the world, released more than 165 cassettes & CD’s as singer, composer & lyricist. He composed music for many TV serials like Shiv Mahapuran, Geeta Rahasya, Parivaar, Dhadkan etc. and done playback singing for the famous serial Ramayan.

Shekhar Sen was inspired by the famous historical characters like Kabeer, Tulasidas and Vivekanand and felt a great need to bring their stories to the people of today. He felt a strong desire to bring the message of these great men to his audience so that the modern generation which seems to be lost in a world of materialism can find its way to redeem the world. Vivekananda’s call to “Arise, Awake And stop not until the goal is reached, ”  is as relevant today as it was a few decades ago.

This CD triology presents his complete ‘Ekpatriya Sangeetmay Natak” (solo musical play) based on the character of Kabeer, Vivekanand and Tulasidas. In the CDs Sen combines brilliant dialogue with great music to bring the characters to life in a unique manner. While the CD does not compare to the live shows, for those of you who missed the show these CDs would be sure to enlighten and entertain you. The CD succeeds in bringing you a glimpse of these magnificent productions.
