Aiswarya  stars alongside Miranda Richardson, Robbie Coltrane and EastEnders actor Steve McFadden in Provoked.  Aishwarya Rai said she took the role because it "touched a chord and as a woman I believed in the issue". The British film was inspired by Ms Ahluwalia's autobiography, in which she describes 10 years of rape and abuse at the hands of her husband.

John Abraham who is a trained footballer and is a member of the Bombay District Football Association is having a great time on Vivek Agnihotri’s Goal. “I used to play A-division soccer in college. I was heavily into sports before I joined films, and Goal takes me back to those days. I’m having a ball,” says John. Once John returns from London, he goes straight into shooting for Nagesh Kukunoor’s next, Aashaayen. “Life is being good to me. My last two films Baabul and Salaam-e-Ishq didn’t do too well in India, but Baabul was a big hit overseas. I refuse to see Kabul Express as a loser. It was made within a budget and was definitely a plus film. It did incredible business in Mumbai. I’d rather see my glass half full than half empty,” says John.

Purva Bedi, an Indian-American actress, wants to set an example for Indian actresses by playing a lesbian in Manan Katohora's "When Kiran Met Karen". The role was earlier offered to Perizaad Zorabian but she turned it down as it was too unconventional. Purva, who has built her acting career in the US, does not attach the same stigma to the role. "That's one of the reasons I really want to do the movie. You know that once the movie's made, everyone in India is going to watch it. I want to do this movie so that actresses there can start to play those parts and not be so scared," said Purva.

At a recent awards ceremony, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were together on stage to announce a category. But everyone is still reeling because of Katrina’s greeting. Whoever taught her to say Salaam Aleikum must’ve squirmed when she inadvertently blurted out, ‘Salaam Mallika’! Salman, of course, quickly jumped in to cover up for his girlfriend’s mistake.

The Bombay High Court asked Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan to submit documents regarding the ownership of his bungalow Mannat. The court's direction came in response to a PIL filed by the NGO Bhrashtachar Nirmulan Sanghatana. Its main contention is that the construction blocks a motorable road along Mannat that links Bhabha Road and Mount Mary Road in suburban Bandra, which had been marked on the development plan. The NGO also argued that the plot in question was reserved for an art gallery but the reservation was "illegally" vacated by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in 2003.

According to sources, Ayesha Takia is not happy. The promos of the forthcoming film, Kya Love Story Hai were giving her all the possible attention till Kareena Kapoor's sensational track It's Rocking Yaara Kabhi Ishq To Karo came on air and briskly moved up the charts.Naturally, the emphasis shifted to Bebo's special appearance, quite like the situation in Don last year, when Priyanka Chopra's presence turned pale with the advent of the Yeh Mera Dil track.

The Bachchans have decided to make the wedding a very private family affair. Every second socialite and her dress designer in Bollywood may claim they have been invited to the Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding on April 20, to be held at Jalsa, but the fact is that no invitations have been issued to any of these wannabe guests and tough luck, none is likely to be issued either. Our source says, "The decision on how big the wedding would finally be, was left to Jaya. She decided to make it a closed-door, simple and quick ceremony at their residence Jalsa in Juhu. With Amitji's mother on her death-bed, the last thing the family needs is a lavish celebration."Apparently, Jaya's logic was simple, "Amit and I got married only with family in attendance. Similarly, Shweta's wedding wasn't open to non-family. So why should the rules change for Abhishek?"
