IANH Raises Funds For Noble Missions

"The hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray", said Mr.Prithvi Kumar, President and a pioneer of IANH, in their grand variety entertainment fundraiser programme held at Merrimack High School on Saturday March 10th. The event was aimed at raising funds for various public service activities of IANH like contributing to NH flood relief, donating food items to Nashua and Manchester soup kitchens, Apartment restoration project and the Angel Tree project. The association has adopted six children from the children's Home and three families from the Salvation Army list and also donated gifts for them during Christmas last year. Mr.Prithvi attributed the success of such projects to the committee members Barinder Ahluvalia,Mrs.Karthi Chandra, the Vice-President of IANH, Tej Dhakar, Secretary of IANH, Mrs.Vandana Dhakar and Deepa Mangalat. The IANH youth group needs a special mention as well for their contribution towards the public service activities. The IANH education committee motivates the youngsters to enrich their skills through their education bees. The winners from each contest compete at the National level held in August every year and the winners at the Nationals get the scholarship. The education committee of the association under the leadership of Thilak Radhakrishnan in collaboration with the NSF has made it possible since 2002. Kumon center of Nashua, NH sponsors the trophies for the winners at the regional level. The bees are organized from the association funds as well. The day's event commenced with an invocation song by the students of Jyothi Sharma. The amazing footwork for the tap piece "Time & Rhythm" by Madhumitha Sriram and Juhi Gupta's enthusiastic performance for "Chamma Chamma" excited the audience. The next part of the show with group dance and vocal performances enthralled the audience. Group vocals by students of Sandhya Sridhar, by Sankar and Rajesh Saluja and Meera Bhajan by Shireen Patel were heart warming. The dancers of the group dances choreographed by Kruti Shah, Pranathi and Bhavana Kaki, Amritha Mangalat and Jasmine Shah dazzled the audience. Bharatanatyam dance by Meghna Chandra and Amritha Mangalat was very special. Beethoven by Sucheta on the keyboard was enjoyable. The programme ended with the sweet Bollywood melodies by the music groupYaadein. The food catering service for the event was provided by Gurnam Catering Service, Merrimack, NH and Foods and Fashions of India, Nashua, NH. IANH receives a generous contribution from both the vendors in most of their events and public services. "IANH is an association of the families" proclaimed Mr.Tej Dhakar, the secretary of the association, "And we want to organize such events keeping in touch with our culture and heritage", he added. Being a professor at the Southern NH University and a secretary of the IANH, he wants to take care of the Indian Community that he belongs to and wants to make it better known in New Hampshire.
