One of the most happening singer-music directors in Bollywood, Himesh Reshammiya rocked the Agganis Arena on Sunday September 3, 2006. The concert, titled Aap Ka Suroor, based on the super-hit album of Reshammiya also featured the Kajra Re singing sensation Alisha Chinoy, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa finalists Vineet and Himani, Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant and the sexy starlet Udita Goswami. The show was billed as a very interactive one by the national sponsor Vijay Taneja and the local sponsor was Nizar Morani. True to their promise the artists worked hard on establishing a strong connection with the audience. The show opened with the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa singing sensations Vineet and Himani. Himani made a grand entrance to Om Namah Shivaya with electric lights swinging in the background to give a feeling of an Aarthi. The handsome Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant made his presence felt by his beautiful renditions of many of his hit numbers. He constantly worked on engaging the audience and had them singing along with him. Alisha Chinoy took the stage and sang many of her hit numbers including her first single Laila Mein Laila, India is the Best and other. She left the stage with the promise of coming back in the second half to sing her all time hit number Kajra Re. Finally to the delight of the audience the star of the show Himesh Reshammiya arrived. He delighted the audience with several of his hits including Ashiq Banaya, Jhalak Diklaja, Zara Jhoom Jhoom and others. Listening to him live one could really hear his voice and realize what a storehouse of talent he his. He presented a few unplugged numbers which beautifully helped showcase his voice. The excitement level was cranked up when over 50 members of the audience were called on stage to dance. It seems as though the stage converted to nightclub with several young men and women rocking to the live music. “This show was simply fabulous for we were allowed twice to go up on stage and dance with the stars†said a freshman from the University Of Connecticut who had come all the way to attend the show. Udita Goswami and the professional dancers who accompanied the singers added color to the show with their moves. A touch of comedy was added by an up and coming comedian Raviraj. Reshammiya succeeded in getting the young and old off their seats and had them moving to his beats. True to his promise he did make the show very interactive and connected in a very personal way with his audience. Reshamiyya acknowledged all who had helped him reach great heights. His tribute to his father was touching. A great show and the local organizer Nizar Morani promises us a many wonderful shows in the years to come.
