One of the many satisfying aspects of the work we do in Lokvani is receivng mail in our inbox (info@lokvani.com) with comments, suggestions and sometimes a plea for help. Such a case is of a Lokvani reader who sent us this mail on an issue which is very much in the news at this moment.

As many of you may know, my sister-in-law suffers from Parkinson's disease which is one of many afflictions that could eventually be cured through stem-cell research. Given the President's upcoming veto of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act, H.R. 810, I just took action on this issue by going to the website below and called my Congressman. I thought you might find it interesting too. It would mean a lot if you also called.

Another appeal is from the local gurudwara: One of the beloved member of the community Sardar Dhian Singh Ji passed away this last Monday. He was only 44 years old. He leaves behind his wife and 3 very young children (ages 3 years to 8 years). Unfortunately the family does not have any relatives in the U.S. Any help for the family during this crisis will be appreciated In memory of Sardar Dhian Singh Ji An Akhand Path at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar has been started today. Akhand Path Bhog and final rites ceremony will be held on Sunday.
