Poetry Corner - One More Blast

Dr. R.Subrahmonia Ayyar 07/13/2006
Early to rise and rushing to work Jostling in train speeding so fast Bombs then burst in series so quick And bodies of dead and wounded are strewn
Ghostly the scene to describe for one Rescue then comes from all over town The bodies are counted, the wounded attended People from all walks render all help
Lip service rendered by those in power Mudsling starts between person and parties Speeches are made in phrases so stale By people in power tell all lies
Promises made that culprits will be caught Amenities announced for the kith and kin Of victims who died, wounded by blast For no fault of theirs, unknown or known
Thousands are killed by barbaric acts Unsung and unwept with requiem none But the nation is weeping and shedding tears That people are losing their virtues and peace
Services restored and life starts moving Perhaps to be shattered again by a blast But man lives with hopes in his heart That malice and hatred will one day be gone
