Year: 2006
Label: T - SERIES
Genre: Comedy
Director: Priyadarsan
Music Director: Himesh Reshammiya
Leading Cast: Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Sunil Shetty, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal

Priyadarshan and Himesh Reshammiya are back together with 'Chup Chup Ke' with Himesh Reshammiya adding to his hit parade.  Their previous association in “Kyon ki” had brought forth some great music though the movie itself failed in the box office. Chup Chup Ke comes with highexpectations with a cast that includes great actors like Paresh Rawal and Om Puri. Chup Chup Ke also stars Rajpal Yadav, Shakti Kapoor, Sunil Shetty and Neha Dhupia .

In Chup Chup Ke, Reshammiya continues to capitalize on “Sufistic” style of music and his own unique vocal renditions that seems to guarantee a hit. The track opens with ‘Shabbe Firaq’ where he pairs up Tulsi Kumar.  Apprentely this pair is very popular in the Bollywood music scene.  He opens this number with the tune that was the prelude to ‘Tera Suroor’ from his album ‘Aap Ka Suroor’.  The song is a fusion of Middle-Eastern, Indian and Western music.  The rhythm in the track will keep the dancers happy. DJ Akbar Sami who seems to be a Reshammiya favorite presents a very lively remix.

What can you expect when the greats like Sonu Nigam and Kunal Ganjawala join the inimitable Himesh himself to sing? A hit of course! This is exactly what the next number ‘Dil Vich Lagya’ is – a catchy Punjabi number that is the best track of the album I Akruti Kakkar who has mostly sung remixes in the past joins in and delivers a fine chorus! DJ Akbar Sami works on it further in the remix transforming the original which is more in a contemporary Indian mode to a Western mode that can blare out at discos.  Dancers you will be happy I promise!

The track moves to present a rustic Rajasthani/Gujrathi folk number ‘Ghoomar’ sung by the talented KK and Sunidhi Chauhan. The vocals are great though the music is simple. At times when we hear Sunidhi sing we are reminded of the ‘Morani Bhagha Ma’ tune from Lamhe. A lovely folk number that gives a nice touch to the album!  ‘Aaya Re’ is a song that is reminiscent of the old Reshammiya hits where he used lot of orchestration and common beats. A song by Kunal Ganjawala, Sunidhi Chauhan and Arya , it has a nice melody. DJ Sami uses some fabulous funky new material and transforms the song quite a bit in the remix version.  The song is   a fun one that will entertain the Bollywood audience.

Next comes a wonderful song with a 70’s touch. ‘Tumhi Se’ is a lovely romantic number featuring newcomer – Vijay Yesudas and Shreya Ghoshal. While Vijay cannot compete with Papa Yesudas, the young man shows a lot of potential. Shreya is as usual wonderful in this romantic number but it is the ‘good old days’ tune that catches the attention. Kunal Ganjawala renders an unplugged version of the same.  He brings his special touch to this 70’s style music

'Mausam Hai Bada Qatil' has no remixes. It is a Sonu Nigam single and has its opening tune set to the 60s fashion.  As you hear it we could imagine Shammi Kapoor in his younger days dancing across the screen!  A nice nostalgic tune combined with new sound and the great Sonu Nigam’s voice makes this a number that may catch the attention.

The album may not be super creative but has the right ingredients to be hit. Reshammiya detractors who complain about his compositions and singing will have to wait a while before his hit parade ends!
