While Himesh Reshamaiyya  has succeeded in getting attention by singing many of his own hit numbers including Aashiq Banaya and  Jhalak Dikhlaja, Vishal Shekar have created a new sensation by  getting another music director,  the 80s sensation,  Bappi Lahiri to sing their title track in the new album Taxi No 9211.

Milan Luthria, who debuted with 'Kachche Dhaage' and later directed action packed 'Deewar - Let's Bring Our Heroes Home' is back with this Ramesh Sippy production that promises a fun filled ride.  Featuring some of Bollywood’s finest like Nana Patekar, John Abraham, Sameera Reddy, Sonali Kulkarni and Shivaji Satam,  the movie promises to be quite an entertainer.

Vishal-Shekar have also many of the finest in the world of playback singing including Shaan , Kunal Ganjawala, Adnan Sami, KK, Sunidhi Chauhan  and none other the great Bappi Lahiri to create a racy album that is bound to stick with you for a while.

1) Boombai Nagariya (Living In The City and Club mix) [Lyrics: Vishal, Singers: Bappi Lahiri, Vishal]

Being a “Mumbai Chi Mulgi” myself the title track touched a special chord.. With both the opening version (Living In The City) and the 'club mix' version by Guru Sharma that follows later, 'Boombai Nagariya' hits a home run. In fact the 'Living In The City' too is a remix of sorts rather than a regular song and includes number of dialogues by both Nana and John. Some are serious and some are funny but they convey the spirit of Mumbai beautifully! Bappi Lahiri’s vocals are quite instrumental in making this a fabulous entertainer.

2) Ek Nazar Mein Bhi [Lyrics: Vishal, Singers: K.K., Sunidhi Chauhan]

Music director Vishal turns lyricist in this number which is a romantic number in hip-hop fashion. K.K has been delivering consistently good songs in the recent years.  A mixture of rhythm and melody it has a little bit of the R.D Burman 70s touch to it. Sunidhi Chauhan’s fabulous voice adds the right spice to this number.

3)Meter Down (Original and Rock'n'roll mix) [Lyrics: Vishal, Singer: Adnan Sami]

Meter Down is perhaps one of the most original numbers I have heard in a long time!  A new sound has arrived with Adnan Sami’s rendition of this song!   The song has an heavy influence of Jazz. The lyrics are most interesting where it takes a cue from a 'Taxi Meter' and draws parallels with life. Maybe since Vishal is both the lyricist and the music director the lyrics flow beautifully with the notes. Rock'n'Roll mix, as the title suggests, is a rollicking remix version by Guru Sharma that makes the first half of 'Taxi No.9211' pretty enjoyable half  .

4) Aazmale Aazmale [Lyrics: Dev Kohli, Singer: Vishal Dadlani]

Meter Down is a tough act to follow. Aazmale  does succeed in changing the dynamics of the album . The lyrics by Dev Kohli are thoughtful and Vishal has done  a beautiful job with the singing.

5) Bekhudi [Lyrics: Dev Kohli, Singer: Shaan]

Taqdeer Kal Ki Kitaab Hai, Saara Likkha Usme Hisaab Hai Kya Khabar Woh Kal Ki Hawa, Chale Kis Taraf Kya Pata Jod De, Tod De Zindagi

Such lyrics have not been found for a long time in recent years and Dev Kohli is to be thanked for writing a beautiful song.  Being a Shaan fan (yes I am hooked on  Sa Re Ga Ma Pa!) I really enjoyed Bekhudhi. . Kalyan Barua's guitar at the very beginning of 'Bekhudi' sets expectations for a highly melodious number to follow The pleasant and youthful tune is bound to make this a hit.

6) Udne Do [Lyrics: Dev Kohli, Singers: Kunal Ganjawala, Harshdeep]

The album ends with this song that is about wanting to break free and touch the skies. . A rhythmic number with all around western arrangements, it has Kunal Ganjawala all energetic and charged up. . Harshdeep makes a brief appearance couple of times in the song to come up with a folksy rendition in this high-on-beats and rhythm number.

Vishal –Shekar are to be congratulated on coming up with an unconventional score. Dev Kohli’s lyrics bring hope to those who may think poetry is completely dead in Bollywood.  This album is a great entertainer and promises to bring to good cheer to those moments when one's “Meter is Down” .
