Yoga Workshop - Patricia Walden

Chinmaya Mission, Boston, is happy to announce that Ms. Patricia Walden, one of only two senior teachers in the US, for the popular Iyengar Yoga method will be conducting a hands-on workshop and demonstration at the Chinmaya Maruti Center in Andover. The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 5, 2006 from 2 pm to 5 pm. In addition to conducting international retreats, teacher trainings and workshops, Patricia is also known for her great yoga videos and writings (www.yoga301.com). Admission to this event is open to all and registration is $75/participant.
She was cited by Yoga Journal as one of the “25 American Yoga Originals who are shaping yoga today,†and featured in Time magazine for her work with yoga and healing.
In this 3 hour demonstration cum workshop, Patricia will be demonstrating the Iyengar Yoga method using Asanas (yoga postures). The workshop is targeted towards a broad audience (from beginners to experienced practitioners). ALL ARE WELCOME to participate in this rare, wonderful hands-on workshop and to benefit from it. Participants should come in loose fitting clothes to do the Asanas.

About Patricia Walden
For Patricia Walden, yoga is a path of transformation and joyful awakenings. Renowned for her international retreats, teacher trainings, and workshops, she is one of the most senior teachers in the Iyengar yoga method. As one of only two Americans to hold a senior advanced teaching certificate, she continues to have a close relationship with her teacher yogacharya BKS Iyengar.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts, Patricia graduated from the streets of San Francisco in the early 70’s, where she had been a student of Murshid Sam Lewis (“Sufi Samâ€). In 1976, she met her teacher Yogacharya BKS Iyengar, and she immersed herself in practice. Since then she has studied with him almost annually in India, and she also studied intensively with Dona Holleman in Florence, Italy.
Along with her teaching, Patricia is known for her yoga videos (including Yoga for Beginners) and for her writings, including Women’s Book of Yoga and Health (with Linda Sparrowe).
She was cited by the Yoga Journal as one of the “25 American Yoga Originals who are shaping yoga today,†and she was featured in Time magazine for her work with yoga and healing. Patricia has a special interest in yoga for women and yoga for depression.
