Responding to reports that the Abhishek-Aishwarya link-up is part of a well-thought-out strategy to keep his eagerly anticipated Umrao Jaan in the news, the film’s director J P Dutta says, “When have I ever bothered with marketing my films? Do you know when my first film, Ghulami, was released, there was just one hoarding in all of Mumbai? I don’t think publicity itself helps a film. Border had opened half-heartedly, but it went on to become the biggest hit of my career so far. It’s all destiny. I needed a special palace to shoot these crucial scenes between my bachcha (Abhishek) and Ash.  You know, when I started shooting, I had neither Abhishek’s nor Ash’s complete dates. Ash wondered how I’d do it. But look at how the schedules work themselves out. What is it, if not destiny?”

Salman Khan was sentenced to one year in prison and fined Rs 5,000 by a court in Jodhpur on Friday.  The court found Salman guilty of killing two chinkaras or black bucks, a deer species, at Bhavad village in Rajasthan in 1998. The news has shocked Bollywood.  "This is ridiculous. There were other actors too, but I don't understand why Salman alone was targeted. How come the others were acquitted while he alone was sentenced? Was it written on the bullet that killed those blackbuck that Salman had fired the shot?" wonders producer-director Ravi Chopra, who is directing Baabul with Salman, Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherji.

Madhuri Dixit is rehearsing with Saroj Khan for a special performance to commemorate the late Parveen Babi at the 51st Fair One Filmfare awards to be held at Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) Grounds on Feb 25. After a gap of four years, the two dancing queens have teamed up for a performance. The last time they worked together was in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus "Devdas".

After remaining out of action in Bollywood for months, superstar Amitabh Bachchan has finally returned to work. On February 19, Sunday, Amitabh Bachchan got back to action with a song recording for ‘Babul’. The song by music director Aadesh Shrivastava  and is a hip-hop number aptly titled “Come On, Come On, Chalo Jashn Manaye”.  Lyricist Sameer has written the words for the song.

The beautiful Bengali actress Rani Mukherjee has reportedly left her home. Rani has left her home and moved to a plush 5 star hotel in the suburbs. But before you all start jumping to conclusions, let us tell you that Rani is renovating her huge home in Versova.

Govinda has rejected rumours that he is making a deliberate attempt to come out of the comedy mould by taking up serious roles. "It is a misconception fuelled by reports in certain sections of the media. Comedy has always been my forte and will continue to be one," he said. He has also denied having signed award-winning director Ujwal Chatterjee's "Rangmanch" where he is expected to play a mime artiste, reports Bollywood Trade."  I am still deliberating on the script of the film after which I will take a decision. Some overzealous media people went and wrote that I have already signed the film."

Sneha Ullal made big news last year with her debut film Lucky – No Time For Love because everybody thought that she was a look-like to the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai . Ys, a very uncanny similarity was there and what added to the speculation and public frenzy was the fact that she made her debut opposite Salman Khan - the former lover of Ash. But Sneha asserts that she is not an Ash look-alike. Talking to a leading daily, Sneha said this on being termed as an Ash look-alike: “When people see a copy of the Taj Mahal, they say it looks like the Taj Mahal, isn't it? So, that's an advantage. But when they compare me with Aishwarya, I think they should limit it to the screen, nothing else. I am new to this profession and hence, there is no competition.”
