11/17/2005 Our Voice and yours...... First of all the Lokvani team wants to offer a Big Thanks to all our loyal and steadfast readers, our advertisers, well-wishers, friends and family. Folks, we could not have done it without you. Thank You, Shukriya, Dhanyavaad ! While the harvest is celebrated differently in different parts of the world, there are many common themes. The spirit of thanksgiving, the love of family, the value of hard work and the appreciation of the land and celestial powers are found in all cultures. In this issue we talk to an entrepreneur Sofia Bapna who brings aesthetically and beautiful furniture and rugs from India while helping local artisans find a global presence. We also talk to Dr Nagendra of the Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (Research Foundation) or VYASA in short, which was set up to examine the efficacy of yoga practices and to develop yoga courses to solve the basic problems of the high-tech era. In the Youth Forum we congratulate Amrita Saigal for her award. Hard work and perseverance are what brought her this honor. There is no better motivation than this for all our young readers. We have a roundup of Diwali events in and around New England and our usual features. This weekend don’t forget to attend the Mira Nair event in PEM. IHO is organizing an AIDS conference at the Harvard school of Public health. Check out our local calendar for details. And in the spirit of thanksgiving, we hope you will enjoy this beautiful season and all that has given to us. You may also access this article through our web-site http://www.lokvani.com/ |
