We wish our readers a very Happy Diwali, a festival that is gaining
immense popularity not only among the
Indian Community but outside of it and celebrated with gaiety among family and
friends. This festival of lights that brings so much joy to our lives should
also be a gentle reminder of sharing a part of it through some good action. The
moment is never more opportune than now to help and support the people affected
by the devastating earthquake in Pakistan
and India

area . They have graciously helped in two fundraisers recently for the
earthquake in Pakistan
and India. Also

Now to share a bit of good news that has been garnered form
a recent study. Curcumin, the main
ingredient of turmeric and the compound that gives curry its mustard-yellow
color, inhibits metastasis to the lungs of mice with breast cancer, report
researchers at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.The study,
to be published in the Oct. 15 issue of the Journal Clinical Cancer Research,
reports that the spice appears to shut down a protein active in the spread of
breast cancer to a major target for metastasis.
