Lokvani Team 10/06/2005 As the leaves change colors unshering in the gorgeous New England fall we welcome the festive season of Navarathri. It is time for Kolu, Garba and Dandiya. Thirteen year old Divya celebrates Navarathri makes interesting dioramas based on Indian mythology which she showcases in her Golu. It has been a special two weeks at Lokvani as we witnessed several wonderful events.Watching Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar be welcomed so warmly by a 3000 strong audience at Symphony hall was a moment to be cherished. The maestro and his music did not dissppoint his thousands of fans. We present an interview with Indian American entrepreneur Jit Saxena, who was nominated as one of the top 25 finalists for the 2005 Mass Technology Leadership Awards whose focus is entrepreneurship. On Oct 2 as the world celebrated the 136 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Lokvani had the opportunity to speak to Atmaram Sarogi who is working hard to keep the message of the Mahatma alive. While we withnessed the music of the maesto , Pandit Ravi Shankar we also were priveledged to see the amazing Kathak dance troupe lead by Nirupama and Rajendra who presented one of the finest dance presentation that was technically sound and most creative. We predict that this duo will leave their mark on Kathak. In this issue we also cover the arangetram of New England's own Violin child prodigy , Suhas Rao and the wonderful dance debut by Sangeeta Keshavan. We have all your favorite features, Bollywood Baatein, Technology, jokes, recipes, film and book reviews and events….. Oh yes ! Plenty of good events not to be missed. Learn Quest brings Violin Meastro T.N.Krishnan to Boston on October 14th. Y.G Mahendra is in town with his Tamil drama and so is Shobana with her dance drama. Also keep in mind that Lokvani's annual College workshop is scheduled on October 16th at Tufts university . A great resource for college going students and lots of free advice. So spread the word !
