Anoop Kumar 07/24/2005 Indian Medical Association of New England (IMANE) hosted ‘2005
Inaugural Charity Gala’ at Carling-Sorenson Center of Arts, Babson
College, Wellesley, MA on July 16th. The program was organized to
generate funds to support IMANE’s charitable projects and entertain the
guests. The entertainment program produced in collaboration with
AASRA was attraction of the evening. For many years the IMANE
has been sponsoring and participating in many charitable
projects. Leaders of these programs had an opportunity to present
their initiatives and seek resources for their projects. IMANE
sponsors free health clinic at the Immanuel United Methodist Church,
which provides free basic medical care to poor, underserved and
uninsured patients. IMANE organizes health fairs and day medical
camps to help medically underserved. IMANE sponsors many other
charitable projects including prevention of spousal abuse. The
evening began with a networking reception and a sumptuous dinner.
Apurva Gupta and Anu Bandopadhaya did a wonderful job as MCs for the
program. Local super stars Neethi Kannan and Tapas Ghosh energized the
audience by singing a great collection of songs. Sridevi
Thirumalai along with her students presented a classical
Bharatnatyam piece. Violin mastreo Tara Anand along with
her students and Mahlingam on mridangam mesmerized the audience with
classical voilin rendition. Krina Shah, Preetu Dhaka and Esha
Bawa choreographed Indian dances. The program concluded with
a Bhangra performance leaving the audience asking for more. Dr.
Purnima Sangal thanked all the participants and supporters for making
