Boston was treated to a special theatrical treat on Mother's day when
Paresh Rawl presented a Comedy-Thriller CHAALBAAZ.Over 650 people
attended the event.
The play was based on the book “There is
Always a Price Tag” by James Hadley Chase. The play featured other
leading artists’ including Feroz Irani, a popular villain of Gujarati
cinema and brother of yet another versatile actress Aruna Irani, Sunila
Karambelkar a very popular artist of Marathi TV serial ,and Hetal
(Rinku) Patel who is a very popular model/actress. The play was about a
man, Paresh Rawal, who will do anything for 25 crore rupees including
committing a crime. Once the crime is committed then he tries to make
clever moves to beat the law and trick the lawyer. The considerable
comic talent of Paresh Rawal kept the audience laughing though the play.
Key quotes from the play were: "I tried to make it in films. I could not get a chota mota role, not even in Ramayana jahan kitne bandar hai" - Paresh "Behind every great fortune there is a crime" "You are my fortune so where is the crime" This
was Paresh Rawal’s third play in the Boston area after
Shaadi@Barbaadi.com in 2001 and Naughty@Forty.com in 2003. The play was
brought to us courtesy of Eshani Patel and was sponsored by Bollywood
Grill Restaurant of Andover, MA.
Lokvani had a chance to talk
to a number of people in the audience and everyone praised the
show and the organizers. The only comment was “Everyone knows Paresh
Rawal. However, it would have been nice if he had introduced the other
artists in the play to the audience.”
