IDRF And Triveni Efforts Raise $15000 For Tsunami Victims

TRIVENI DANCE ENSEMBLE presented “Rhythms of Joy and Hope” in three
styles of classical Indian dance. The event was held on Sunday, April
24th, 2005 at Roberts Auditorium in Brookline High School. The program
was huge success with more than 500 people attended the concert. IDRF
matched $6800 raised from the event. IDRF will donate $15000 to Sri
Mata Amritanandamayi Devi of Amritapuri, Kerala for medical facilities
to benefit the tsunami rehabilitation efforts.
Neena Gulati, a master Indian classical dancer accompanied by her
senior ensemble of captivating dancers, presented the recital. Through
its rhythmic and expressive elements, the dancer experienced a range of
emotions and shared them with the audience. Triveni Dance Ensemble, an
exciting and well-known performing group in Boston, shared the sheer
joy of rhythm interpreted through three classical dance forms.
Sponsors of the show included Saheli, Friendship for South Asian Women and Brookline Adult and Community Education.
India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF) conducted multiple fund
raising events to benefit tsunami victims. IDRF has raised more than
$150,000 from New England area. IDRF will conduct the 5th annual
Cricket For-A-Cause tournament in July.
IDRF is a well-established, all voluntary, non-profit organization
based in USA. What makes IDRF unique is the fact that the organization
has no administrative overhead and thus applies 100% of all
contributions to the needy.
