(This article is sponsored by Sounds Of India) 'Waqt -
The Race Against Time’ has Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and director
Vipul Amrutlal Shah together after Aankhen. Anu Malik is the music
director and Sameer and Aatish Kapadia have penned the lyrics. This reviewer was left cold by most of the songs in the album, all the number had mediocrity writ large on them. 'Subah
Hogi Shaam Hogi’ – A thoroughly unexciting commonplace song with both
Udit and Alka trying bravely to rescue it from total obscurity (and
failing). ‘Miraksam’ the ubiquitous Punjabi track. Sudesh
Bhonsle sings for Amitabh Bachchan and is joined by Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi
Chauhan and Mahalaxmi Iyer. ‘Toot Gaya’ is penned by Sameer and has Kiran Kher’s vocals. A sentimental, weepy song about relationships, fails to inspire. 'Chup
Jaa' is a romantic, flirty little ditty sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and
Sonu Nigam. This song will not grate on one’s nerves like ‘ Apne Jahan’
by Adnan Sami and Sonu, but is like a million of Malik’s other songs.
Let’s play Holi is forgettable as well, both Anu Malik and Sunidhi
sound as arificaial and tinny, ditto for the accompanying music. ‘Tandav Music’ is the only saving grace in otherwise uninspired and insipid collection of songs. Spare yourself and give this one a miss!
