Chitra Parayath 11/17/2004 As in years past, the premier area community organization, The India
Association Of Greater Boston (IAGB) is planning to host India's
Republic Day celebration in January 2005. The event will feature the
best cultural talent in the area and promises to be bigger and better
than ever. The IAGB cultural committee is accepting proposals
from groups that want to participate in the event that will tentatively
be held on the 22nd of January. This year, the committee hopes to
attract fresh talent into the mix. Said Mr. M Rajinikanth,
Vice President, IAGB, "It would be refreshing to have new elements in
the program. We would be very happy if there was a group that could
pull off a quawwali, for instance. The greater Boston area has no
dearth of talent and we will be glad to host the best during our show.
Please write to us at iagb_culture@yahoo.com
as soon as possible, so that we can process your application. Like
every year, this year too we expect many people applying for a chance
to perform, we will try and acommodate everyone but if you do not make
the cut this time, please do not be disheartened. We will keep your
information on hold and will contact you, come August (for the
Independence day celebration). We plan to give each group a 5 to 7
minute slot to perform and we also prefer that each team has a minimum
of 5 participants. The key this year would be innovation. Let us
come up with something new and exciting!" IAGB is committed to nurture and showcase Indian-American art and culture of in the area.
