Press Release
02/20/2025

Ramesh Advani (B.Tech. '74, Elec. Engg., H8) has been chosen as the volunteer for this month for his outstanding contributions to the IIT Bombay Alumni community.

Ramesh is a dedicated volunteer based in Boston Massachusetts with a passion for networking and community building. After graduating from IIT Bombay in 1974, he went on to pursue a Masters in International Business from the University of South Carolina.

He is a seasoned senior executive with over 30 years of global management experience across financial services, high-tech medical, and materials manufacturing industries. As a former Vice President at Fidelity Investments, he played a key role in launching Fidelity’s India Operations. Ramesh has also held senior roles in finance, operations, technical customer service, IT, and marketing with companies like Corning, Chiron, Novartis, and Bayer. Inspired by his wife’s work as a School Committee member, Ramesh became Massachusetts’ first Indian American Selectman, serving from 2003-2009. He was also a member of the Commonwealth’s Asian American Commission and led the Massachusetts chapter of the Indian American Forum for Political Education. Currently, Ramesh volunteers with South Asian non-profits, serves as a Board member of Hearth (a Boston-based organization addressing elder homelessness), and is a counselor at SCORE Boston, supporting young entrepreneurs.

Ramesh was actively involved with the Golden Jubilee Reunion for the 1974 batch for the planning & fund raising in a core committee for the past 18 months. It brought back memories of the work he did as a core founding member of the first Mood Indigo in 1973.
