Music: Amar Mohile and Shailendra Swapnil
Producer: Ram Gopal Verma Productions
Singers:
Sukhwinder Singh, Gayatri Iyer, Adnan Sami, Sonu Kakkar, Shweta Pandit,
Makrand Deshpande, Kunal Ganjawala and Sujit Kumar
The Ram Gopal
Verma factory is buzzing with its latest musical offering, Naach,
starring a sizzling Antara Mali and the new Bollywood tough
guy Abhishek Bachchan.
The music is by the relatively low
profile music directors Amar Mohile and Shailendra Swapnil and reeks of
a Rahman hangover, albeit one that doesn't make your head throb! The T
series release has been written by Nitin Gaikewar and Makarand
Deshpande. Among noteworthy numbers:
1) Awara Mann -
Easily the best track in the album with Shweta Pandit belting out a
racy and innovative tune. The accompanying shanq (or train )sound in
the background adds to it's mysterious appeal.
2) Berang Zindagi - The obligatory Punjabi number with predictable rendition by Sukhvinder Singh and Gayatri Iyer.
3)
Naach Naach Ke - Composed by Shailendra Swapnil and written by
Tabbish Romani. Shweta Pandit's sober take on this number grows on
you after repeated listening. Shailendra Swapnil on the
trumpet is impressive and the flamenco beat and the Latino flavor is
pleasant.
4) Ishq da Tadka - Adnan Sami and Sonu Kakkar
pick up the pace here. While Amar Mohile's composition and Nitin
Raikwar´s lyrics are nothing to write home about, the interesting
Arabic influence makes this worth at least a spin.
4)
Rakht Ka Hai - Shailendra Swapnil and Makrand Deshpande both fail
to make an impact with this tuneless rendition of the poem (penned and)
voiced by Makrand himself.
5) Rakht Ka Hai - Another take
on the same piece, this time as a duet by Kunal Ganjawala and Shweta
Pandit. An improvement on the earlier version with pleasing guitar work.
6)
Bandhane Lagi - Shweta Pandit and new comer Sumit Kumar sing this
smooth breathy ballad put to tune by Amar Mohile with lyrics by Jaideep
Sahni. Though long and a tad slow, flute bass and piano embellish
this song. Sumit Kumar sounds very different from his dad, the late
great Kishore Kumar but shows tremendous promise nevertheless.
7) Sara Sara - Kunal Ganjawala and chorus present a somewhat dramatic number which is sure to please impatient listeners.
All said and done, high marks to RGV and Co. for Naach.
