DIEWC Inauguration: A Night of Culture and Unity

On Friday, October 4th, the inauguration of the Diversity and Inclusion Empowerment for Women and Children (DIEWC) was celebrated in a grand event at the Ashland Community Theater. The evening featured cultural festivities, including a vibrant Garba Night, bringing together community members, leaders, and supporters to celebrate the launch of this important nonprofit organization.

Nisha Sinha, a marketing professional, DIEWC board member, and an active Hopkinton volunteer, served as the evening's emcee, introducing special guest Robert 'Bob' Lancia, an American politician, former educator, and former U.S. Navy chaplain.

Lancia congratulated Shova Sharma, the President and Founder of DIEWC, on the occasion of the organization's inauguration. A citation from Sabina Matos, Lieutenant Governor of the State of Rhode Island, was presented to Shova in recognition of her leadership and the organization's mission of empowering women and children.

Youth volunteer Suhas Narayana was honored for his community service, receiving special recognition from Lt. Governor Sabina Matos for his dedicated efforts.

The evening also featured remarks by Meena Bharath, Chair of the Massachusetts Asian American and Pacific Islanders Commission, who spoke on the importance of DIEWC's mission. She introduced Shova Sharma, acknowledging her role in founding the organization. Shova provided a brief overview of DIEWC's vision and mission, highlighting the organization's commitment to inclusivity, leadership development, and community service for women and children.

Members of the Hopkinton Town Board attended the event to offer their congratulations and best wishes for the success of DIEWC. Among them were Shahidul Mannan, a Select Board member, Nasiba Mannan, Vice Chair of the Hopkinton Board of Health, Muriel Elaine Kramer, Chair of the Hopkinton Select Board, a U.S. Air Force veteran, licensed clinical social worker, and Amy Ritterbusch, a Select Board member in Hopkinton. Also, the President of Foundation of Indian Association (FIA) Abhishek Singh and Jyoti Singh extended their good wishes to DIEWC President.

Sponsors for the event were recognized, including Star Home Health Solutions, Sharada Kunam (Real Estate Agent at Foemmel Fine Homes), Anuradha Mazumdar, Sanjib Biswas (Home Helpers), and local residents Ashwini Chitnavis and Shweta Saraswat. Also, Priyanka Jaiswal, a professional photographer from KV Photography, stepped forward to support the event by capturing stunning photos throughout the evening. Special thanks were given to dance instructor Priya Asthana, DJ Rounak, and Abhishek Sharma from Spice Kitchen for their contributions to making the event a success.

The DIEWC inauguration and Garba Night was a true celebration of community, culture, and empowerment, marking the start of an exciting journey for the organization in promoting diversity, inclusion, and the empowerment of women and children.
