IAGB: Celebrate India Day

Press Release
08/15/2024

Happy Independence Day !

Celebrate India Day on 17th August

2:30-6:30 pm

Dear Community,

Aap sab hi ko Svatantrata Divas kee shubhakaamanaen!

Rabindranath Tagore’s poem, ‘Bharat Tirtha’ is an apt wish on this occasion as India celebrates 78 years of Independence!

All shall give and take, mingle and be mingled in, none shall depart dejected

From the shore of the sea of Bharata’s Great Humanity!

Come, O Downtrodden, let the burden

Of every insult be forever dispelled.

Make haste and come to Mother’s coronation, the vessel auspicious

Is yet to be filled with the sacred water sanctified by the touch of all

By the shore of the sea of Bharata’s Great Humanity!

We are at an evolving juncture within and beyond the community. People tearing apart, countries tearing apart – hate & violence creating agony and heartaches...and yet, as a community, we stand tall to the motto of Indian culture and spirits - tolerance, acceptance, exchange.

My team and I pledge to spread LOVE by continuing with my approach of “Aspire, Attempt & Achieve” to see IAGB work together as a diverse Community wherein we act responsibly, reliably, and efficiently, respect the community and beyond, embrace differences or conflict of opinions with empathy and understanding, hold each other with love while encouraging and soliciting open communication among and between each other.

Our Grand India Day Cultural Event this year is set to that undying spirit of giving and embracing. Filled with renewed and vibrant festivities, the theme of “Naach, To the Rhythms of the World” is as unique as a theme can get! Knowing the talent and level of creativity of the talented local performance groups, IAGB urged them to perform one or multiple Indian dance forms to the tune of international music/ international song/ medley of international songs. But we didn’t forget to be inclusive and all embracing, and hence also kept 2 other segments in our program, kids and Bollywood segments.

Wait, that’s not all! In its pledge to be the trailblazer and excel in everything it does for the community, IAGB has added a hearty musical concert as the grand finale of this year’s cultural program. Get set to sing, swing and sway to the ambient and groovy songs presented by Boston based singing band  ‘Kadak Chai’ with their Desi hits with an international twist!

We also have a bright mosaic of over 40 vendors offering a variety of ethnic & international products & services to explore and shop while you are there!

So come one and come all, under the open sky alongside the Charles River, at the iconic Hatch Shell on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm to give and take, mingle and get mingled in
