Geetha Patil 08/15/2024 United India Organized the Spirit of India, an annual free
program on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Columbus
Park, Hicks Avenue, Medford, MA. This is a fun filled event was attended by a
big crowd of children, youngsters, and adults with full of enthusiasm. In the center of the park,
they set up the Kids Castle Slide Bouncer, Children Jumping Outdoor Inflatable
Bounce House with Racing Slides & Large Climbing Wall, and many other fun
playing things. They had DJ. In addition, the music and dance performances
were nice. Great music
and live singing arranged by Manisha Chawdary with very special performances. All the participants experienced
the vibrant energy at Spirit of India event, 2024. The event
highlights included moving your body to the beats of Indian music, and the
local business agencies such as banks, realtors, restaurants, ear
piercing, henna, pottery, robotics, dental, medical, Ayurveda, Astrology, Meditation,
Adult care, Financial planner,
jewelry and clothing sellers set up many interesting vendor booths. Colorful
costumes, sarees, and scarfs were displayed craftily for sale. Adult Art
Centers conducted interactive sessions and workshops. Many restaurants and
others were selling delicious freshly prepared Indian foods and snacks. They offered hot Dosas, Uttapam, Golgappa,
desserts, lemonade, ice cream,
Jeelebi, Gulab Jamun, fresh sugarcane juice, and many other sweets and snacks. Khadi India
displayed beautiful handspun and hand-woven cotton and silk clothes, which
became one of the symbols of India's freedom struggle. Khadi
India’s timeless leather bags were nice and stylish. The sleek men’s black and
brown bags to chic vanity bags, beautifully painted Tussar silk sarees, scarfs,
diaries adorned with nice paintings, made the stall a center attraction while
supporting local artisans with Vocal for Local. One of the participants told the reporter that as a
part of Spirit of India, we gathered in this park by having picnics with our
family and friends. It was an overall happy day; we had authentic Indian
food and good quality merchandise. Another participant said, “I can just say it is a wonderful
and a great appreciation day for the Indian community about our heritage and
