Each year the Indian Americans for Burlington hold a meet-n-greet with the people running for various positions in the town. This year the event was held at the Recreation Center on March 30, 2024. 21 candidates standing for a variety of positions including School Board, Town Moderator, Town Meeting Member and the Select Board met with the Indian community. There were more than 60 people in attendance.

The IAB committee members, Deepa Aggarwal, Vasantha Kannan, Shilpa Patangay, Atul Bummer and Amrit Soni hosted the event. Prerana Mathur served as MCEE for the event. The program opened with a Bharatanatyam Dance Edathu Padam Thukki Adum. 

It is a great pleasure to be here at this event said Jim Tiggis, who serves as the Chairperson of the select board. Jim outlined the major issues that the town is working on. All the members running for office shared their vision for the town.

The Indian Americans in town engaged with the School and Select board members extensively. 

The town has several Indian American Teams that play Volleyball and Cricket. There was a spirited discussion on the options to create spaces to play these sports along with creating a bike path. 

The Indian American for Burlington group was warmly applauded by all the members running for office for their active engagement in the community with a spirit for giving back. The Indian Americans of Burlington hoped that the elected members would do great good for the benefit of the community.
