IAGB held its grand Republic Day celebrations on Saturday, Jan 27 at the Burlington High School in Burlington, MA. The event titled “Chalachitram†celebrated 100 years of Bollywood. The event was the first hosted by the new executive committee under the leadership of President Tanu Phoenix and her team.
Over 2000 people attend the grand event. Tanu Phoenix, Nilesh Agrawal, Deepak Garg, Manishabrata Bhowmick,Anagha Singh, Arpita Das Pathak, Asha Thothangare, Lohith Nagaraj, Nagendra Rao, Pooja Shinde, Prerna Mathur, Shubhada Kulkarni and Vijayendra Bhargava pulled together a beautiful multi-dimensional event that included competitions, cultural events, photo booths and a vendor mela.
Financial advisor and philanthropist, Raj Sharma was the chief guest for the event. He talked about the importance of giving back to both India and to local charities. Arsh Mehrotra, who ran Aap Ka Manoranjan for many years was given the Community Champion award. Burlington Selectmen Jim Tiggis and the Burlington Asst Superintendent of Schools, Lisa Chen were guests of honor at the event.
The team recognized all the community partners who are working for charitable causes in the community and the regional organizations promoting culture in the community. Several competitions were held for children and adults including Carrom Board, Chess, Math, Bollywood and a Tiny Sharks competition. Several leading members of the community were asked to present the awards.
A fabulous event as always, that brings together the entire Boston Indian American Community!
