Press Release 12/30/2023 Sachin Jain Welcomed to the Board of Directors at the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans announced today the appointment of Sachin Jain to the organization’s Board of Directors. Sachin is a 2004 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow who received his MD/MBA from Harvard University and is now the CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan. With a background in medicine and healthcare management, the addition of Sachin promises to enhance the Fellowship's mission to support outstanding immigrants and children of immigrants as they pursue higher education in the United States. “Sachin Jain’s commitment to healthcare and his dedication to supporting immigrants align perfectly with our mission at the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships. His lived experience as a Fellow and his expertise will be invaluable as we continue to identify and empower the next generation of exceptional New American leaders,†Ms. Daisy Soros, the president of the Fellowship, explained. Sachin, a Harvard-trained physician and widely respected thought leader in the healthcare industry, has a remarkable track record in advocating for equity and accessibility in healthcare services. SCAN’s revenues top $4.8B and the organization serves more than 300,000 members. Since joining SCAN in 2020, Sachin has launched a range of new products—including SCAN Affirm (HMO), the first ever LGBTQ+ health plan product and SCAN Inspired (HMO), the first health plan designed specifically for women—and expanded its operations into Arizona, Nevada, Texas and New Mexico. SCAN has also launched four subsidiary medical groups intended to support seniors through the full range of inflection points in the aging process. There he developed the first scaled clinical program in the world focused on loneliness and social isolation. Prior to CareMore, Sachin was the chief medical information & innovation officer at Merk & Co and was also an attending physician at the Boston VA-Boston Medical Center and a member of the faculties at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School. Previously, he held leadership roles in the Department of Health and Human Services focusing on Medicare and Medicaid services. “Sachin has given back to the Fellowship community in myriad ways as an alumnus, including mentoring new Fellows, providing guidance to me as a director, taking part in the interviews as a panelist, attending Fellowship events, and maintaining close friendships with his PD Soros colleagues,†Director Craig Harwood explained. “Sachin has been a steadfast source of support for this community. In addition to his passion for the organization, Sachin brings his lived experience as a doctor, business leader, the child of immigrants from India, and as a Fellow. I am thrilled that he has agreed to join the Board of Directors and look forward to working together.†The current Board of Directors includes Allison Binns (2003 Fellow), Eric Chung (2016 Fellow), Peter Georgescu, Paul Holdengräber, Ann Kirschner, Noel Lateef, Daisy M.
