Joyous Sankranti Kite Flying

Kite flying season comes with

Joyous Kite-flying weather and

Millions of Kites like countless birds

Skimming across the infinite blue sky

Colorful big and small, skinny and fat kites

Travel swiftly and steadily higher and higher

As the cord runs through the hands

The kites soars higher over the land

Everyone balances his or her kite

But unexpected wind conditions

Make them tangle with other kites

Or sharply cut by other naughty kites

Then all embrace it with big laughter

And take another kite and fly it again

No one stops flying kites for having fun

Try to fly it higher than before with new gut

As our kites rise and fall in the open air

Our life also goes through many ups and downs

Vibrant Kites scatter all over the open sky

No one looks at which kite looks good

Or goes higher or how many times swings

Just enjoying one’s flying kites with full care

And imagine as if I am flying way up

And can sail above many fearless clouds

When I look down at folks on the earth

Large clouds consume me in a second

But I swim through the sea of giant clouds

And the right wind takes me so high in the sky

And I hear the delightful songs of wild wind

That come though the paper wings of kites

People below stand and stare at the kites

Flying like colored birds with free spirit

I wish to play flying kites till the Sun hides

But very soon twilight lowers on the towns

 I must haul my kite bird down holding string

And I grasp it tightly with full strength

A slender string brings wonderful kite down

Children’s laughter, adults’ pride, and darting kites

Make a joyous day of spring and a healthy one and

Sankranti flying kites is a way of thanking Sun God
