The 'Miss India New England' Show

It was a day filled with glamor, talent, and the celebration of Indian heritage in a vibrant way. This year the platform brought some industry professionals and esteemed guests together in Boston all the way from Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey and India. At Double Tree Hilton in Andover Massachusetts a spectacular showcase of Indian talent and fashion was presented on Nov 26th. Contestants belonged to Miss, Mrs, Teen and Pre-Teen categories who performed showcasing their talent, intelligence and grace in ethnic dress, talent and evening gown rounds. Our Guest of Honor Mrs Punita Sinha graced the occassion who also presented ‘Excellence Awards for Leadership’ during the show. Her presence was inspirational to many girls/women participants of the pageant.

The 'Miss India New England' pageant featured fashion show by Hollywood based designer of Indian origin -Shekhar Rahate who presented his latest collection of evening gowns worn by most diverse group of top models ever seen in this area. Primetime dance was classical Kathak by Miley Arora on ‘Thumak Chalat Ramchandra’ choreographed by Mrs Mona Bhowmick. Opening Ganesh Naam was sung by Shraddha Agrawal and Anish Khanzode, who also conducted audience voting for Viewer’s Choice Crowns in Miss, Teen and Pre-Teen categories. 

The tiara and sash moment became possible for many that day alongside an opportunity to shine with this eleven year old pageant tradition in New England. From Bollywood and semi classical dance routines to soulful singing and meaningful poetry- the talent portion was captivating. The extraordinary array of evening gowns and ethnic Indian dresses were presented by contestants this year. Choreographer for the show was Nishi Bahl from New York. Judges were Sonia Sujanani, Shalini Kashyap, Dr Sapna Agarwal, Jayesh Mehta, Vidhi Dalia, Jharna Madan and Shreya Patel Ranganarayan. This dedicated panel mix comprised of a top lawyer, doctor, interior designer, financial analyst, businesswoman, celebrity beauty professional and pageant director- some of them actors/models/marathon runners and extremely talented former Miss India New England winners.

Top three contestants in each category will proceed to Nationals to be held in New Jersey between Dec 6th to 8th at Royal Alberts Hotel.

“This year marks the 41st anniversary of the Miss India USA pageant, which is the longest-running Indian pageant outside of India, and Miss India New England is glad to be affiliated to them. As Mr Dharmatma Saran- Chairman of Worldwide Pageants often talk about “Bringing India Closer”- I think Miss India New England was able to bring India closer to modern Indian girls and women living in the area.”
