With a vision to bring visibility to emerging cities like Mysuru in Karnataka as a destination for entrepreneurs, the government has invested significantly in making the process easy for US companies to thrive in these cities. The Karnataka KDEM team partnered with Mikro Grafio to do a roadshow in the US showcasing the opportunities in Karnataka. They held an event on April 25th at the Burlington Marriott.
Mr. B.V.Naidu, Chairman of KDEM and Mr. Sanjeev Gupta , the CEO of KDEM laid out the state of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Karnataka. “We have over 15000 startups in Karnataka and 41 are now Unicorns,†said Gupta. They shared the support and investment provided by the government of Karnataka to scale the entrepreneurial efforts in Karnataka. Other speakers included Mr. Santosh Mahalingam, CEO and Co-Founder Mikro Grafio, Mr. Prashant Prakash, Chairman Startup Vision, Dr.N.Shivashankara, IAS and Mr. Madan Pataki, President TIE-Banglore.
Bengaluru has been the number one goto place for multinationals. Now there is a big effort to bring opportunities to other cities like Mysuru, Mangaluru and Hubballi-Dharwad-Belagavi. They also touted the fact that there is a large number of engineering colleges in Karnataka and thus there is plenty of talent to support the industries. In addition to software, Mysuru is also becoming a hub for electronic manufacturing.
