Grammy Award winning icon, L. Shankar is widely considered a living legend and a musical genius by his peers. The virtuoso Indian violinist and vocalist has enthralled audiences and critics alike all over the world since his first public performance at just 7 years old. As a musician, composer, and record producer, he has sold more than 100 million albums through his solo projects and collaborations with other superstar musicians throughout the world including Elton John, Van Morrison, Madonna, and Michael Jackson.
In the 1960s at just 18 years old, Shankar emigrated to the United States where he became a professor of classical music at Connecticut’s Wesleyan University. He would go on to briefly join Frank Zappa as his violinist before starting his own bands and touring the world with the likes of Peter Gabriel, composing scores for award winning films, and pioneering the 10-String stereophonic Double Violin.
