Archana Singhal 12/22/2022 Indian Americans of Lexington (IAL)'s Diwali Gala 2022 brought color and joy to the winter landscape on 20th Nov with the first in-person, post-COVID Diwali event at the beautiful Cary Memorial Hall. The occasion brought to life the Indian Spirit of Diversity, Enthusiasm and Collaboration as different cultural groups gave delightful performances and dazzled the venue with color and fun. More than five hundred children and adults filled the evening with talent, love, and warmth. Beyond the festivities, the event also recognized the residents who give back to the community with exemplary community service. The evening performances invoked divine blessings with chants, shlokas, and ragas. The dance performances were as diverse as India itself. Garba, Bhangra, Bollywood and Classical - all genres came together to showcase the beauty of Indian Fusion. These performances were delivered by over 150 performers of all ages, from tiny tots to adults. Emcees skillfully merged the evening's performances with their knowledge of classical singing and dancing to engage the audience. Their interactive approach drew in the people, and many who might have planned to call it an early evening stayed back for the whole event! Finally, the evening was made special by the heartfelt Diwali wishes shared by all the Town Officials and the Cultural Group representatives in Lexington. Volunteers entirely drive IAL, and its core members worked tirelessly to ensure the brilliant execution of the event. Also, in keeping the tradition of social contribution, this year's ticket proceeds were to be donated to the Lexington Food Pantry. IAL Diwali 2022 was a culmination of months of planning and preparation. It wouldn't have been possible without the support from all IAL core members, volunteers, participants, sponsors, food vendors, and guests who made the event memorable. Here's to many more such events! You may also access this article through our web-site http://www.lokvani.com/ |
