NAZRAANA - A Grand Musical Event in Worcester, MA

The time has come for the spectacular music event, NAZRAANA, this Saturday, August 20! The event will take place at the Hanover Theater in Worcester, MA. Doors open at 4:30 pm. There will be amazing performances by Vijay Prakash and Anuradha Palakruthi.

A talented band of 40 musicians, led by Kamlesh Bhadkamkar from Mumbai will accompany them. Vijay Prakash has contributed his voice to numerous film hits in various languages including, but not limited to, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Marathi. Anuradha Palakruthi has sung over 2 dozen original compositions and has performed with Bappi Lahiri, Suresh Wadkar, Salim Sulaiman, Kumar Sanu, Guitar Prasanna, Shivamani and others. The band accompanying the two singers is extremely talented and consists of chorus singers, sound engineer, string coordinator, tabla players, dholak players, thumba players, drummers, octapad players, percussionists, keyboard players, guitarists, flute players, violinists, sitar player, trumpeters, and other people who help make the music come to life.

This amazing musical spectacle is being presented by many organizations joining hands for a wonderful cause - “Samarthanam” . One of the organizations is Samarthanam USA. Samarthanam USA is a branch of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled (India), which works to help empower people with physical disabilities. Samarthanam has helped 14,114 children get an education, provided 22,974 youth with training to widen employment opportunities, and provided 73,000 children in 50 government schools in India with meals. Another organizer is Juju Productions. Juju Productions strives to create music that transcends national and cultural boundaries while still staying true to their Indian roots. India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB), another organizer, is an Indian-American community with a long history dedicated to civic, community, social, and cultural causes. Last, but not the least, we have India Society of Worcester (ISW) who serve as a window into the cultural heritage of India, not only for Indians but also for the local community in the Greater Worcester area.

This musical event is a fundraising event for Samarthanam. The main goal of this fundraiser is to help people with disabilities to gain education and skills that they need to successfully enter the workforce and become independent. In order to achieve this goal, proceeds from this event shall be donated to the higher education needs of disabled youth, and also to help the Livelihood and Resource Centers (LRCs) at Samarthanam. These centers are across major cities in India like Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Belagavi, Bellary, and Bangalore, to name a few. Samarthanam understands the need for empowering the disabled youth, which is why they provide the necessary mobilization, training, grooming, and confidence building to help them successfully enter the workforce.
