Brij Garg 08/11/2022 KHANAK, A Dance Performance by Dance Troupe visiting from India KHANAK refers to the sweet sound of bangles. It is also a dance performance by a visiting dance troupe from India on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 5:30 PM at Keefe Technical High School in Framingham, MA. The first part of the show will feature a choreography which is pure, magnificent and supremely graceful, rendered passionately by young artists. It uses Goonj and Dhwani to create an aura of bliss and zeal and leaves an everlasting impression on audience like the tinkling sound of auspicious bells. The second part uses Jhankaar to treat the audience to cultural diversity of India by extravaganza of folk dances: 1. Kashmiri Rouf 2. Assamese Bihu 3. Marathi Lavani 4 Rajasthani Ghoomar 5. Gujarati Dandia Raas and Garbi Nritya The show will benefit Support A Child project which supports food, shelter and education of very poor but deserving children in various states of India. It was started by Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America whose volunteers meticulously monitor the use of donated funds and send an annual report about the supported child with photo and other details. The show is a production of Kalanidhi Centre of Performing Arts from Kanpur. It has received great reviews of several performances from last few weekends in other cities. In fact, Support A Child has become known for the beautiful shows it brings to Boston area. It brought the show by Aditi Bhagwat who did a dance-drama that was spell-binding. In 2019, it brought Malvika-Agnimitram, a play by Kalidasa, produced by Dhaatu puppet theatre of Bangalore which used a fusion of classical Indian puppets with live dancers which was extremely popular and delightfully entertaining.
