Federations of Indian Americans hosted Suresh Prabhu, the former Cabinet Minister on Sunday April 17th in North Grafton at the home of Manil and Nipun Asija. Prabhu was visiting New England to share information about a new university he has founded in India called the Rishihood University. After his enormous success as a career politician who impacted India in very positive ways, Prabhu is now working to transform the educational landscape of India by the establishment of a new university.
Rishihood is India’s first social-impact university. The academic areas include creativity, entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, and public leadership. Rishihood’s multi-disciplinary style ensures that we nurture a generation of leaders who can bring a positive change in the world.
The university is inspired by the famous words by Swami Vivekananda - “The leaders of our society have never been generals or kings but Rishis. When you are a Rishi, you become a blessing to mankind. This is Rishihoodâ€.
“Rishihood brings the best of Indian and Western methods of Education together†said Suresh Prabhu. Prabhu described the various academic programs of the university. He emphasized the importance that Rishihood places on connecting students to their heritage. "If you are not connected to your roots, you become rootless and that makes many ruthless". He talked about the important role education plays in making good citizens. He urged everyone to learn more about Rishihood and engage with the team.
